New Mac owner, iTunes help..

Hey all, quick question for you guys..

I just moved from a dell to an iMac.. I keep my itunes library on my external HD...When I added the songs to my iTues on the Mac, it moved all of them to the computer... I really wanted to keep the space free, and keep them on the external..

Aperture did this as well as iPhoto with my pics... Is there a way to do this and keep everything on the external?

For iTunes, go into the iTunes Prefs and uncheck the option to copy files to the iTunes Library folder when adding to iTunes. Do the same for iPhoto.
