I want to use Linux as my main OS but right now i'm not sure how to do it. I've downloaded BootCamp onto my laptop, but the only posts and whatnot i've seen have been to get windows to run on a mac, nowhere have i seen a different operating system mentioned. So my question is, is it possible to run Linux on my macbook through bootcamp, and if so how can i do this? Thanks in advance!

There are pages around detailing how to do it - do a Google search - but I believe it's not a straightforward process.

Why don't you just try it? I don't see why it wouldn't work, except you might run into some driver issues since these must be provided by Apple.

My understanding is bootcamp is for Windows, as it contains necessary drivers, etc for windows.
Installing Linux, you can look specifically at how to install on a Mac, either on Ubuntu's web site or google it.

You can try Parallels instead. That way you can enjoy both OS X and Ubuntu at the same time. No rebooting would be necessary. I have installed Ubuntu on my MacMini (with Parallels) and it works all fine.

VMware Fusion is by most accounts the better way to go with installing Linux - but it is not freeware.
Price is basically same as Parallels, but they are selling it at half the price during beta period right now.

FWIW, I couldn't get Ubuntu to install under Parallels, but it worked fine under VMWare.

The Beta version is currently free until the release version appears.
