(Why do I find posts like this when I'm about to be away from a computer for lots of hours?!)

Hiya jordanphan!

You probably need to reset your iPod. Do that and then try to sync with your computer. Then let us know how it went.

If that doesn't work, I assume the computer is a MBP, yes? What model iPod is it? Are you up-to-date w/ iTunes? Knowing those things could help solve the problem.

Good luck!

Just reset it. Mine had the 'Do not disconnect' sign on it a couple of days ago and after an hour still hadn't even been recognized on my Mac.

To reset, each one is little different - mine is the 30GB and with it I held down both the Menu and the center Select buttons for like 30 secoonds or something.

Some use a combination of the Menu and Play/Pause buttons.

Should be able to find it with a quick google search for 'reset' along with your iPod.

The only hit I found online

It is a permissions error according to Appleerrorcodes.com

Think I would try running disc utitlty - verify and repair permissions

Is the ipod playing just fine when not connected to the computer?

If it is - it is probably a permissions error in iTunes.

On your MBP open 'Disc Utitlity', select Macintosh HD and then run 'Repair Disc Permissions'.

If that does not work, then try the fix in the link above.

And yep, you can always call Applecare.

If resetting and restoring didn't work, at this point you probably want to contact Apple. This seems like it may be a hard drive issue and may need to be replaced. Call Apple or go to an Apple store.

No, you can just go to the store. They can tell how old it is and if it is covered by the warranty by the serial number. Your best bet would be to go online and sched an appointment at the Genius bar at your local Apple store, that way it cuts down on the waiting time.

Yes, definately schedule an appointment, I always get stuck waiting at least an hour if I don't pre schedule the appointments there. Good luck with your repairs.
