I recently switched over to Firefox and using Safari for a short time and Opera for a long time. I just installed my first plugin (Clipper). Any recommendations for what you think are great plugins??

If you are using several Macs/PCs, Foxmarks is a great plug-in to sync your bookmarks.

If you're a power user, enjoy lots of gadgets, try the Developer Toolbar. It lets you turn on and off a lot of features, see the print view (and iphone view) of CSS, turn off javascript, etc etc

When I used FF, my favourites were Download Statusbar, StumbleUpon and Adblock Plus.

Stumble Upon is really just for wasting time. :p

Although there are thousands of plug-ins available for FF, its a good idea to install only the most wanted. Adding plug-ins may slowdown the browser.

I can't live without All-In-One-Gestures. Lets you do simple actions (back, forward, close tab, refresh, etc) by holding down the right mouse button and drawing a pattern / trail. It's the only reason I don't use Safari- no gestures.

In addition to what has been mentioned above, I use Colorful Tabs, FoxClocks, Google Browser Sync, PDF Download, OpenBook and Searchbar Autosizer.

I really got a kick out of Stumbleupon before I switched to Safari.

If you use Gmail, try this:

dragdropupload

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2190

Drop files into attachment boxes instead of browsing for them or typing in the filename.

Drop multiple files and fill all the entries.

In some websites it allows to add new upload files: in Gmail is possible to drop the files directly over the "Attach a file" link.

Anyone know how to set up keyboard shortcuts for within Firefox? I would like to have a few to activate some of these add-ons.

Downloaded keyconfig, but don't quite understand how to get the action I want. Basically I also installed the drag&drop add-on, which opens in the sidebar, I will use this pretty much everyday as I send alot of files using gmail, so its a very convenient function. I would like to have a keyboard shortcut to activate this however, something like Command+Shift+F. Any help getting this to work would be much appreciated.

I ended up downloading All-in-One-Sidebar which enabled me to fully customize the sidebar and what opens, now when I open Firefox, drag&drop is by default in the sidebar which is minimized, f4 opens and closes it, very easy.

Keyconfig is just to change the keyboard shortcuts used in Firefox (including those added by other extensions).

Press Command Shift F12 to open Keyconfig preferences. (or Tools > Keyconfig)

Hey thanks for all the suggestions!! I have downloaded and tried Ad Blocker Plus, Foxy Tunes and Colored Tabs. Love the Tabs - Ad Blocker really speeds up the page! Have only briefly experimented with Foxy (using iTunes songs only thus far). Not sure about the last one - seems just as easy to open iTunes in the first place but in fairness I only spent a few minutes with it so I am sure I have not found its total usefulness. Thanks again!! :D
