External RAID enclosures for reliable storage?

MBP CD 1.83/2ghz/7200 100g + Mini 2ghz C2D 2gb + Mini 1.42ghz G4 + PM 7200/120 + Newton OMP
Well like many of us here, I take a lot of family pictures and store catalog them using Aperture (after upgrading last year from iPhoto). Having a disc crash and the associated loss of memories would be catastrophic. I know I can backup to DVD, but I'd prefer to keep a reliable online storage method.

So... I'm looking at a 1TB raid solution that isn't going to break me. Is anyone using such a thing? An enclosure that supports two drives (preferably SATA) with an eSATA (or FW400) connection would be preferable, and since there are only going to be two drives, raid 1 should be sufficient.
