iBook G3 HDD

Hi, I am planning to put in a new hard disk in my G3 iBook. Is there any place I can buy one and get some instructions to put it in myself. The Apple service stn is asking 400 USD to do this while the iBook in their clearance center is just 700 USD. Please tell me if this is possible as DIY. Thanks -/Paul

I take it you couldn't resurrect the drive.

The iBook is probably the most difficult drive to replace, since you have to take the it almost totally apart.

Here is a site that shows the disassembly of an iBook 500. From what I've seen the disassembly is different between a 12" and a 14". Hope it helps.
