could you tell me what the default ram configuration for the 2.4 MBP is? i'm also eyeing for a 2GB stick of ram but isn't sure whether all the slots has been used (with 2x 1GB sticks) or not.

p.s. how much did you pay for your ram?

The default for all MacBook Pro's is 2 x 1GB sticks, the MBP only has 2 slots, so upgrading to 4GB would require 2 x 2GB sticks.

Thanks Justin. I believe it must be very expensive to upgrade the ram to 4GB! I guess I'll be okay with 2GB. Apple shouldn't have been so stingy with its top of the line 2.4ghz models (they should have given us 4gb of ram!).

Just make sure, all, that you have the new Santa Rosa based MBP (2.2 or 2.4 gHz) models. Those are the only chipsets that will support 4 GB RAM. Previous C2D models support 3 GB, and CD models only 2 GB.
