Mac osx/ linux command line

I have a question is the command line the same for mac os x and linux. I know in linux you can mkdir /home/username/folder/ and it creates a folder. is it the same for the mac?

Not exactly the same, but very similar. Since Linux and BSD (the foundation of OS X) are both derivatives of UNIX, most of the commands are the same, as is the navigation and syntax.
