Suddenly only sound, no video

I converted a movie and put it on my gf's iPod. Worked fine, she watched it once or twice last week. Now she's out of town and just called me with a problem. She's trying to watch the same video, but now only sound comes out. There's no video at all. From what I understand all she sees is the Apple logo while sound from the movie plays. Anyone know how this could have happened all of a sudden?
