I wanted to get a idea of how I can use my mac to improve my life a little bit more then it already has. So I was wondering if everyone would be so kind as to list their top 10 mac applications that they are ACTUALLY CURRENTLY USING even games. It doesn't have to be an exclusive mac application. I will list mine as follows. Now please keep in mind that I am a recent switcher so a lot of these are just basic applications. I still haven't been exposed to enough to make a real educated list of my own.But here goes. Also if you could just provide a short summary beside the name of the software so that we know what it does.

1. Safari - obviously browser
2. Apple Mail - obviously mail application
3. Quicksilver - application launcher
4. Limewire - Peer to Peer sharing
5. Lemonade Tycoon 2 - Lemonade Stand Glorified
6. Fetch - FTP software
7. TextEdit - all of my source code editing needs and more
8. iCal - Nothing native in Windows compares
9. Terminal - The power of Unix
10. Itunes - My favorite

Here's my 10 but they are not in any particular order:

iTunes
Bittorrent (or any other Bittorrent client)
AdiumX
Terminal (still trying to learn some stuff with this, it's really hard to teach yourself!)
Cyberduck (best FTP program I have used)
Bootcamp
Dreamweaver
Photoshop
Microsoft Office (I know it's Microsoft, but you can't beat Word and especially Excel!)

Cog - music player, plays almost every audio format out there, m3u/pls playlist support, not Library based (me: woohoo!)

Xee - fast image viewer, browse prev/next pic in folder, rotate, crop, convert to other formats

JustLooking - browse prev/next pic in folder like Xee, rotate, handles GIFs with transparencies better than Xee

The Unarchiver - supports almost any format (zip, rar, sit, 7z, bz2, gzip, etc.), no Dock icon appearing then disappearing like StuffIt

Firefox - I don't think it needs any introduction. ;p

Perian - allows QuickTime to play everything (almost)

VLC - plays absolutely everything

MPlayer - better UI than VLC, doesn't support a few things though

Dictionary (comes with OS X) - nice little app to quickly search words

OnyX - screws up your system XD

I've only got a list of 5, considering I don't use it as my main computer, it's mostly for music production:

iTunes
Firefox (some small abilities I prefer over Safari, thanks to the Firefox plugins)
VLC

here are 10 apps I couldn't live without, in any order.

Adium: A multiformat chat client. Very customisable and I like it.

Visualhub: Converts video files to many different formats. Really that's all it does but it has so many options and works like a charm.

Audio Hijac Pro: Records sound from any source on your computer. Direct from the app to the program. It's really nifty to have.

Photoshop: Image editing software as we all know but really I use it so much it's great.

Firefox: I know the firefox vs safari war is a matter of opinion as to which is better. And yes safari is a touch faster I think the customisation of firefox and the way the developers really listen to all our complaints about it make it the best web browser for me.

Audio Overload: Allows me to play all those old video game tunes I like to listen to. Nice and relaxing.

Onyx: System janitor. Nice to have. Not that I use it too much but just having it there for when I do need it is really a puts my mind at ease.

Snaps Pro X: Not the best at movie tream recording but it records anything the screen does (sound and picture wise) as a movie. Can also take screenshots. But the appel shortcuts are much quicker. But nothing else I know of can record the screen as movies liek it can to it's on my top 10 list.

iTunes: The easiest music player ever to use. It just works. Sure there are ones out there that play more formats or are supposedly better. But overall for me itunes does what I need it to do. So it gets my recommendation.

Mactracker: It shows info about almost every apple hardware product ever released. It's like the definitive bible of mac hardware. Sure I could google all this info but having it just there at my fingertips to use is great.
