Deafening SuperDrive noise

When I put a DVD in my SuperDrive it make a huge noise.

That's what my internal microphone picks up. It's horrible! How am I meant to watch a movie with that thing going on? It's even louder than my PC's fan and processor noise!

Is this normal? Can I fix it? Should I go to an Apple Store.

I hardly hear my Superdrive when I'm using it, so definitely have an Apple Store or other authorized dealer look at it.

No, not normal. Sounds as if the drive is not positioning the disc correctly and you're hearing it spin off-axis.

Hmm, not good. I got my iMac back in April and it only just started doing this. Weird.

That sounds very wrong. I'd take that to the apple store immediatly. I had one in my iMac that didn't make a sound that was weird, it was just the fact you could hear it 3 rooms away, so I had it replaced
