Growl question

i just installed growl and it keeps making a chiming sound kind of like a doorbell..how do i get that to stop?

I don't believe Growl makes sounds.

What application's notifications is it? It could be the app itself.

go into prefs in adium and into event and then inthe sound set drop down menu select "none" that will turn off all sound in adium or you can change individual sounds for login and log out etc.
