Play avi files in quicktime?

I have a bunch of movie files left over from when i had my pc but they are all in avi and wont play with quicktime. is there any way around this?

I'd suggest doing a forum search as this has been answered before. But in short, I'd recommend Perian. http://perian.org

As AVI is a container format, even with Perian QuickTime won't play everything... VLC on the other hand will play just about anything you throw at it.
