Not sure why you would, since FreeBSD Unix is already in OS X, and you can use Fink to install Linux apps.

BUT...your question was "can you"...so the answer is, yes. YellowDog linux is a distro specifically designed to be installed on Macs.

You can also use the mac version of Mandrake Linux....
