External Hardrive problem

Ive bought a external hardrive for my macbook but i want to use it on both mac and pc, is this possible? If so how do i do it? When i had it formatted to windows i couldnt add stuff from my mac and then i formatted it to mac and now windows cant see it.

13" white 2.16Ghz, 2Gb ram, 120gb hd
i have a external drive and it was formatted first to use windows with an ntfs partition.. i hooked it up to my mac and no problems there

When you go to format it, do it using Disk Utility on the Mac. From the Volume Format list, under the Erase tab, choose "MS-DOS". It will them work on both the PC and the Mac.
