not that bad:

I'm guessing some of you with the bigger space count are encoding it at high levels

I've just started to encode most of my stuff in LAME (I still buy CDs) in VBR between 180 - 225 (some I encoded in 320 CBR)

and I got rid of all my lossless stuff as it was taking unnecessary HDD space on my MB.

other than that most everything is at a minimum of 128, with a paltry few below it

I don't believe in more. More is clutter. I don't believe in keeping tracks for the sake of the album's entirity, I don't believe I need more than 24 hours of music.

I used to have around 4000 tracks that filled my 20GB iPod, but I went basic a while ago. I also throw out music every few weeks, as I'm quite a wanderer of genres and have my phases.

Thats just like me with music( still uploading from CDs though) :

27" iMac 2.7GHz Core i5, iPhone 6, iPad Air 2, 4th gen Apple TV
Music: 3736 Songs, 11.7 Days, 18.74 GB
TV Shows: 52 items, 20.1 hours, 13.54 GB, (all the episodes of "The Office"), probably 30 more on backup due HD limitation
Movies: I don't keep in iTunes, but about 50 at about 6 GB each

I've also been feeling like getting rid of some "old stock" but there are times I get nostalgic for an old tune I haven't heard in a while. Plus, I paid for them and their not really in the way like a big box in the closet.

I have a lot of singles and sometimes I forget what I have. The other day I really wanted to hear a song I haven't heard forever. I bought it on iTunes and it turned out I already had it from long ago!

Let's see at ~$1 per song . . . holy cow Baggss!! That's a huge investment!!! :)
