I just learned that the only way to view true HD on a HD monitor it by buying a hd video card converter or getting one of theses coverter boxes http://shopmatrox.com/usa/products/datasheet.asp?ID=803 . Is this true and if it is then is my mini mac that is hooked up to a 23" HD Apple screen displaying any type of HD? Thanks

No, don't buy that. You're current setup is HD. I think that converter is for connecting to TVs.
