File Encryption

Hi

I have just got a MacBook and I will be sharing it with a flatmate. I will be using it for work and there will be sensitive files on it, not that i think he'll snoop about but to be on the safe side I was wondering if there was any way of encrypting folders with a password? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You can create an encrypted .dmg and put all your files there. Then whenever you need them, just mount the .dmg and give it the password.

If you share the Mac, you should have one user account each which will solve your problem.

Is there a tutorial out there that details how to create an encrypted dmg???

I'm just not up to using terminal.......

You Don't need terminal to make a encrypted .dmg.

Open up disk utility in your applications, utilities folder

Click on new image, fill in all the details and for encryption choose AES-128

As rogerinlondon said, best option would be to create two accounts.
