Here recently whenever I close my macbook pro's lid, it will go to sleep like usual but if I leave it for a few hours (over night, for example) it will be completely shut down and hibernating. What is causing it to hibernate instead of just staying asleep?

It's the same regardless of whether it is on AC or battery power.

Thanks for the reply, but it came just a few hours too late :)

I read somewhere else to try the command "sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0" to reset the safe sleep function and I believe that worked.
