SuperDrive Firmware Update 2.1:

About SuperDrive Firmware Update 2.1
The SuperDrive Update improves readability of certain CD media. The updater application will be installed in the /Applications/Utilities folder. Please follow the instructions in the updater application to complete the update process.

Note the requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.4.4 or later
  • MacBook Pro Core Duo (15 -inch 1.83GHz, 2.0GHz, or 2.16GHz)
  • MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo (15 -inch 2.16GHz or 2.33GHz)
  • MacBook Core Duo (13 -inch 1.83GHz or 2.0GHz)
  • MacBook Core 2 Duo (13 -inch 1.83GHz or 2.0GHz)

Actually I made a mistake in the title, it's for MacBooks and MacBooks Pros only. Sorry 'bout that.

so that update dosent apply to macbooks 2.16

that was a good one as I had a lot of pb to burn DVD - I needed to go with 3 to burn one - and from apple it was a hardware pb that I had, but as I needed my computer on daily bases I never had the time to send it for the repair they said it needed, though since the update I don't any pb anymore...
BTW I started to have the pb when I bought my macbook almost a year ago... That was fast fix and nothin to do with the hardware...
