Well, I found a mint condition FW clamshell on the local craigslist for 130. The screen has no dead pixels and it has 192M of memory and OS 9.2.2 on it. I want to upgrade it to OS X, but which version is my best bet? Tiger with Dashboard disabled, or Panther? Also, was that a decent deal or did I overpay?

That was a pretty fair deal, congrats!
I would go with Panther (10.3.x) on that machine. It can certainly run Tiger (with more RAM added), but Panther would be the best choice IMO.

Thanks for the confirmation, and I will be upgrading the memory next week. The guy who I bought it from is even taking in the existing 128M DIMM as trade-in, so I'll have 576M of clamshell goodness soon.

Only bad part was that the power adapter wasn't included, but thanks to $30 and ebay I've got a 65W new adapter to take care of it.
