 I currently have an iMac g3 (slot loading) running Tiger and I was wondering if I could use this generic Firewire DVD-R burner my Dad owns but no longer has a use for. I would try for myself but I would like to know if it would work before i buy a new firewire cable. my dad no longer has the box or the software (If it needs any). Would it be compatible with my iMac G3? (it has firewire ports) Would i need a driver, or would it run right away? And would it be compatible with iLife?

I don't see why not. A firewire cord should only cost $10 and you should be able to return it if the DVD burner does not work.
