Hi

When ever I reinstall OS X Panther, and select complete refresh, it doesn't seem to format the hard disk. Things that were in the trash before reinstallation are still there after.

How can I format the hard disk when reinstalling. I want a fresh file system. Is it possible to partition the hard disk from the installer?

Thanks.

not from installer, but there is a way, very easy one ;)
1. boot from install CD/DVD. installer will apear.
2. go to apple menu > open disk utility
3. select your HD
4. open erase tab
6. pick name and volume format (journaled)
7. click erase

when you are done with it, quit disk utility and go back to installer to install panther.
thats it!

When you are reinstalling and you get to the page where it says Select the Destination go to to the Options button at the bottom and select clean install...This does a full format and when you boot up it is like you just brought the system home from the store
