I just got a new Mac Pro (yay) and bought a monitor at best buy. This monitor is an Envision 19 in LCD (G918w1) and works fine until I shut down and then reboot. When I first turn my computer on, not all of the screen is used. About a fifth of the screen is black on the left and the desktop is scrunched on the other 4/5 of the monitor. Once I go into display preferences and change it to 1440 X 900 manually it returns to normal. So, do I have to change some sort of setting or is the monitor a retard?
