Hi - not being too technically minded, i am hoping for some guidance on how to get garageband sounds/tracks (during composing stage) to play wirelessly through speakers. I believe that Airprot Extreme can only pick up iTunes. Is this correct?

I love the look of the JBL Creature speakers and Harmon Kardon but these are all wired and I think have to connect directly with the computer.

Any tips greatly received :)

You need an Airport EXPRESS (not Extreme) with Airtunes... Then use AirFoil to play ANY sound from your Mac wirelessly to any powered speaker.

But it is optical...

There's no use in having 5.1 on the airport express - the sound would be out of sync with your movie anyway :)
