upgrading the ram

I am about to upgrade my 2.16 GHz 24' imac from 1 gig to 2 gig's of ram.

what type of performace increase can i expect?

I Noticed No Improvement All.

Better To Spend The Money On The Latest Software.

My Most Noticeable Increase In Performance Was Moving From Photoshop Cs2 To Cs3 Which Is Optimized For The Intel Imac.

You May Experience A Different Increase But I Think It Is Very, Very Minimal.

My Opinion Is That Huge Leaps (noticeable) Are Years Apart.

We All Seek More Speed. In Reality When A Magazine States An Increase Of 50% That Is Not That Noticeable In Real World Use.

It's A Geek Thing.

Sorry If That Offends ( I'am A Self Confessed Geek) But In The Last Couple Of Years Computer Speed Has Made Little Real Difference.

We Are All Chasing It But Really The Satisfied Mac User Who Has A Three Year Old G4 Will Be Able To Do What The Latest Apple Computer Can Do In Not Much More Time.

We Are All Sucked Into The Latest Is Best Syndrome.

But I (like You All) Just Bloody Love It !

Like Was Said Above, It Really Depends On What You Use On Your Mac. If You Are Not Maxing Out The One GB Of Ram, You Will Not Notice A Difference When You Add The Second GB Of Ram.

Just what I thought, there is no ways im going to get a 50% improvment, but just like you I will still spend money and get more ram.
