Max brightness lowered dramatically

Since I installed 10.4.10, my max brightness is considerably darker than it was before. Anyone have any ideas? I'm using a Macbook Pro. Also, I'm relatively new to Macs. Is there a control panel I can access with more detailed settings for my video card? The "display" control panel is pretty limited. Thanks!

I haven't had this happen on mine, this may be coincidental- perhaps get the display fixed by Apple?

It's not a hardware problem because I can increase the brightness in certain apps (specifically, World of Warcraft) by unchecking "Use Desktop Gamma" and allowing the game to control gamma settings. However, if I minimize the game, or run it in a window, everything becomes much darker.
