Remote controlling my Windows XP machine via OSX?

Hi,

I have a Windows XP machine connected on my local network that I would like to Remote Desktop with in OSX. Currently, i'm using parallels and my XP install on my Mac to do this, but I want to be able to do this without going into XP. Is there a way, or would i have to use VNC connection?

Yeah mate, on your Mac install 'Chicken of the VNC'
on your WIN get 'TightVNC'

I use these two and they work fine together with very little lag.
Plus if you use another machine you can always just use the web browser and your WIN machines IP to use the webserver Java applet.

If you want to stick with remote desktop then follow the link below. I have not used this way as I use VNC as it's on other platforms too.

You don't even need to use that. Just put Windows RDC for Mac on the OS X machine and set up the XP for remote access (no need to add anything). The connection is much faster than using Chicken.

I have been using TightVNC (on XP) and leopard screen sharing (on my MBP) and it is very slow...

how do you set up XP for remote access? (I already have RDC for Mac installed)

it doesn't work for me, i actually have to use a cisco vpn connection for RDP to even work

I assume then you are running from behind a firewall and need to connect to the domain for which the computer you are trying to RDP to is on. Before you can make a RDP connection. If that is correct that is normal. That is how I connect to my work computer from home. Works very well though.

Control Panel
System
Remote
check "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer"

Make sure the computer has a name and password
Get the i.p. address
(from network connections)

Go to your Mac
Open RDC
put in the i.p. address
answer name and password questions

and there you should be . . . .
