I'm interested in buying my first Mac, and I have an opportunity to purchase a Macbook Pro for $1670 with the following specs:

2.16ghz
1 gb memory
120G HD

I'm in the military, and our on-base store has no sales tax. It's last year's model, so they are offering it at the discounted price; it's brand new and still in the box.

Is it a good buy? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Seems like a decent price to me, particularly considering the only way to buy one without paying tax is to buy used, and this will come with the full warrantee.

Last year I paid $2000 for a 1.86ghz with 512mb and a 100g (7200rpm) drive. Even today's model would run almost $500 more (including tax) and would have the same specs, aside from a slightly faster processor.

Is this C2D, or just core duo? That might make up for the price difference. As I said, I've got a 1.86ghz core duo machine and it rocks. A year from now I might feel the speed is lacking, particularly if Leopard is sluggish, but otherwise I have no complaints.
