Menu Bar Icons Disappearing?

So I just went to click on safari when I couldnt find it in my menu bar. I simply replaced it, but I was wondering, has anyone else had this happen? Could I have removed it accidentally somehow, like click and drag it out of the dock?

do you drag it out of the apps folder then put it in the dock. that way is the way i do it and it doesnt go anywhere after i quit the program

Yeah thats how I did it, I just noticed an icon missing.
