I have my MBP connected to my Altec Lansing 4 speakers and sub woofer by using the 3.5 jack closest to the left front of the MBP....sounds great.

You can get RCA converters as well I am told.

at radioshack or any other simple electronics store they should have a 1/8 inch audio cable that goes to the left right rca cable on the other end and plug it into your headphone out on the mac and audio in on your lcd tv

TV's I have played with have red white and yellow inputs generally for RCA connector. The yellow is normally video and red and white the audio.
