Mail Program Spam Question

How does the Spam button work?

If I select messages as Spam, will that prevent the spammer from sending me messages with that account in the future?


Or does it just put messages in the spam box?

Everytime you mark an email as spam, your Mail learns and puts it into the spam box. next time you receive a similar message, it might mark it as spam right away or (that's how I set it up) moves it into the spam directory by itself.
