Is there a way to encode video faster using idvd?

I write a lot of videos to DVD..the whole process takes about 3 hours with the encoding taking up most of those 3 hours. is there anything to do/buy to make the encoding faster? thanks.

encode the video to vob mpeg-2/vob before you burn them onto the dvd, I think it will save a lot time. :)
