Hiding HD on desktop

Is there a way to hide the HD icon on the desktop?

Well, you can turn off the hard drive icons in the Finders Prefs but that turns them all off. You can open disc utility and simply unmount the drive. When you want it back you have to open disc utility and remount it though. I have a drive I do this with.
