External Drive Corruption?

I have been importing my music collection - all from cds - to an external firewire (500GB Lacie Big Disk Extreme). I have about 250GB of music on the drive, and so I'm very concerned about the following being a possible corruption.

While importing using itunes, I started to get an error -36 more and more often, so I checked the drive in Disk Utility. The drive is titled "Music Disk" and when I ran a verification with Disk Utility, the following occurred:

Verify Disk -->

--To check, I ran another verification and nothing changed:

--Then I tried repairing again and this happened:

I immediately ejected the disk and rebooted from a Disk Warrior 3.0 cd - being that it was the only thing I could think of to do - but DW was unable to rebuild the directory: "The disk is still in use. Quit all other applications, or restart from the disk warrior cd, and then try rebuilding again (2153, 2658).

--Something is definitely wrong here, isn't it? Restarting from the disk warrior cd is what I did, so the disk can't be in use.

I have no idea what's going on here. Please help.

Some other notes: I used Disk Warrior to format the Lacie Drive when I started using it, so I was thinking that might be the root of this problem, though I doubt it. Also, I read on some forums about a bug when using Panther with some firewire drives, but I'm running OS 10.2.8

Also, there's a Disk Warrior update available (3.0.2) but it's not available for download, so I ordered the cd, but I'd rather get to the bottom of this before waiting for the update only to realize that's not the issue.

unmounting = ejecting?

I "ejected" the drive from the finder by control/clicking --> eject

Is that no the same as "unmounting"?
