i have had more than 10 times kernel panic since jan 07 now i almost give up to using apple. i often get my kernel when i just surfing with safari listening to itunes, mainly just those two and it happens intermittently so when i everytime i go to apple service centre i really have no idea how to tell them the kernel panic can come about to my macbook, and they didn't do anything except just to repair the hd change the logic board yet the kernel panic comes out again.
and i really have no idea about the panic.log means this is the log, anyone knows about it? thank you in advance

What were you doing when the kernal panic occurred? Have they changed the memory out yet?

Try to make a note of what applications were running when the Kernal Panic occurs. It might just be a poorly programmed application. If you can narrow it down, that will help.

I'm referring to your system memory. It sounds like they took the right steps by replacing the hard drive. Replacing the system board seems a bit extreme before replacing the memory.

yup,it's too extreme i thought, but since there was no sign of the cause of my ram failure i doubt they'll replace for me and they never replaced my hd they just repair it by using the osx cd i think which at the same time it appeared when i brought it to the service centre...and i'm really freaked out by the intermittent kernel panic....as i don't know what is exactly the cause of the kernel panic.

I would print out at least one of the panic logs and bring the Mac in. A good repairman might be able to see what is happening here.

I see AirPort in there and as you already saw yourself, bobtomay has the same intermittent problem as yours although in his case it hasn't happened as often as you.

I looked up in google for bob's problem and I saw mentions of either Parallels or another application. One thing is for sure though, seems like the problems happen when you are on the internet or using an internet app, seems to me. Would that be a constant here? If it is, it might very well be related to the AirPort card then.

Like I posted in bob's thread, run the Hardware Test in extended mode and see if the diagnostic tool doesn't come up with something. If it is intermittent like you say, the HT might not find anything but at least you would have given it a shot.

Yeah,i suspected it as the case the airport extreme card but they'd replaced my airport card and the kernel panic is the same as the old ones, and i've done the hardware test and yes it didn't show anything but passed word...i did ask the guy in apple service centre here (S'pore) but they seemed to be just knew that there's a such file called panic.log as when i told them as their face looked so surprised which when i told them to see from the panic.log (what a service huh) i've been to 3 service centres yet nothing works and none of them seemed to understand what the codes (panic.log) show and mean, i really need to get a really reliable, pro, and handy service centre not those three craps or am i supposed to explore each apple centre in this island, and 1 more thing ,i suppose that a service centre is a place that knows everything about what stuff they r repairing not relying on customer's telling though they seemed ignorant too. Is there really any way out for me to solve this thing out, i'm really tired of this kind of stuffs

It wouldn't be unheard of. That's why I was surprised that they replaced the system board before replacing the memory. Bad memory and bad hard drives are the two biggest hardware-related causes of kernel panics, although the Apple Hardware Test should be able to spot either problem.

Have you tried:

A-Running Disc Utility to see what it finds?

B-Reinstalling the system?

I recently had a spate of KPs and they were all software problems that were fairly easily fixed.

how did u find the flaw of the software, though i haven't reinstalled it

I could not get Disc Utility to run it's check, it would tell me "The Underlying task failed". When I booted from the DVD the system would crash while booting. All of this would indicate a Hardware problem, but it was not. Even running the disc check in Single user mode would cause a crash.

I finally booted my Mac in FireWire Target Disc Mode from my iBook and let the Disc Utility on the iBook check the Hard Drive on the Quad. It found exactly 3 MAJOR problems and promptly fixed them. Once that was done the Quad worked fine and even booted normally from the DVD, all with no panics.

Memory=RAM. Defective RAM is one of the major causes of Kernel Panics.

Currently having most of the same problems. New to Mac with a brand new macBook Pro. Only after the update did I get the panic screen (to me, it's like the blue screen of death on windows).

Brought it to the genius bar and they recommended the archive and install. That didn't work.

Brought it back tonight and they thought it might be a bad airport card. Now I have to wait 5 days for the part. From previous posts, it seems like that may not work. The log looked to me like it was having airport problems and problems with the processor not agreeing with the software.

I love the computer but this makes me question the most expensive computer I have ever bought.:Grimmace:
