I dont want to buy a fake

Looking on ebay there are many fake ipod shuffles coming in from china
saying its a ipod but doesnt use itunes?
example 1: Fake ipod
example 2: Fake ipod 2

I just want to buy an ipod shuffle, the origional design new!
i have found many sellers selling OEM products
is this a genuine ipod
can i find a difference between it?

Simple solution:


Buy it from Apple.

Check the seller's rep. Check other items they have sold. Then make a judgement call. That's what the Ebay game is all about.

Or Amazon, CC, BestBuy, or any other reputable dealer. Any of them you find with more than about a $20 discount are going to be questionable.
They are popular enough that no one has to discount them to sell them.

Surely there is copyright issues with the fake ones?

There are, but it's hard to enforce US copyright policy in China

Actually, to be technical about it, I think such issues would be patent and trademark issues, not copyright ones. I could be wrong though.

There is a difference between the fakes and the originals. The genuine ipod form Apple has the PLAY button inside the circle, just like the fake one, but the PLAY sign on the button is grey and almost invisible. On fake machines alle the button signs are black.
