Anyone know how to read a panic log?

Just had my 3rd kernel panic. All 3 have occurred while doing nothing but browsing. The MBP is basically not shut down except when necessary.

They have occurred May 20, 24, and today.

Bob, usually the info is more obvious than this but in your case, I can see the AirPort driver listed. That's about it.

Why don't you have a look at this, CrashReporter, I'll try to investigate this further by googling.

Ok. Do you have Parallels installed on your system? Some say it could be CHUD tools.

Take a look at this Apple Discussions thread. The crash log file is, in some cases, identical to yours.

Fell asleep in my recliner right after I posted that and just woke up.

But, no, don't have Parallels on here yet.

Saw the airportatheros listed there. Hoping maybe someone else have the same problem. It's pretty sporadic right now as you can see, so not much of a big deal. I just don't like to wait until something like this becomes a major pita.

The box I had upon rebooting was "Mac OS X quit unexpectedly".
Have clicked on the Report button each time, and not gotten one each time.

No log in Crash Reporter.

Oops, looked in the main log, just checked the user log, have several there.
None of the ones in my user log pertain to the KP's I've had.

You could run the Hardware Test in Extended mode just to make sure. But then again if the problem is intermittent, you might not catch it in the report either. Most peculiar.

I'll give that a try tomorrow.

Have found quite a few listings of the AirportAtheros driver causing this as far back as '05.
Most were having a KP several times a day though. In many cases Apple either replaced the Airport card or the computer.

Some were having it occur with particular routers. That is, they were taking it to work, school, home, etc. and only had the panics in one location.

Have not found any solutions other than replacement. But have not availed myself of all the various resources out there yet. And right now, mine is what I would call rare and not reproducible. Will have to keep better track of what I am doing when it occurs to maybe see what is going on.

antthony - if yours is occuring very often, would probably contact Apple. Mine doesn't hardly warrant that action yet.

Is it possible to reinstall the driver, or is it a hardware problem with the card ?

Just an update for others on this issue - after going thru 2 months of having the airport card cause a KP at least twice a week - it seems one of the updates has solved the issue.

Have not had a KP in well over two months now.
