My Mac can't sleep

Please Help! My Mac does not go to sleep when I tell it to from the Apple Menu. I am using an iMac G5 with 512 mb RAM, and 1.9 GHz PowerPC G5 running Mac OS 10.4.9. I have not made any hardware modifications since I bought it.

The same thing is happening to me, but i am using iBook G4, and it was working when i bought it when it was working with Mac OS Panther, but when i upgraded it to Tiger, this problem popped out.... Please help, i am dying without the sleep function please please please
