Why don't MacBook Pros have the "regular" desktop keyboard layouts?

I understand that due to space constraints on the 13-inch MacBooks,
they had to make the keyboard smaller by removing some keys:
Option (right), Control (right), Help, Forward Delete, Home, End, Page Up, Page Down, F13-F16, the Volume keys, Eject, and obviously, the whole Numeric Pad.

But what about the MacBook Pros?

With the extra space, can't they at least re-add the more useful keys??
(Of course, I'm not talking about putting the whole Numeric Pad.)

I think even the 15-inch models have enough space to spare
to re-add at least the Option and Control buttons on the right, no??
(especially considering that the Option key is in many keyboard shortcuts)
Or maybe the Home, End, Page Up, Page Down keys?

And as for the 17-inch model, there is a lot of extra space, yet they still keep the reduced keyboard layout.

Anyone know why they chose to do this?

Production costs probably. It's easier to make one type of keyboard in mass and use it in various models instead of two different ones.

Production costs, and usability. What point is there in having duplicates of keys (besides the Shift key) on a compact machine? I'd much rather see that space used for larger speakers, and other features.
