I was thinking of getting the 15 inch 2.2 ghz MBP. I wanted to connect my 19 inch lcd monitor to the MBP. My monitor has a DVI connection. Can I connect them just by using a DVI cable? One into the monitor, and the other end into the macbook? Is it that easy?

Absolutely, plus you can use both displays for a dual monitor work environment! It's a very nice feature.

how would you use it for dual monitor? do you have to change a setting? If so, what would you have to change?

The default setting is that the external monitor works like an extension to the desktop. You would have to change a setting for it to get mirrored
