Hello everyone - I'm new here and new to the Mac industry. So far I have to say I really do like what Im seeing. I'm an IT Specialist at a large hospital and we currently have people starting to transistion to the Apple World. So I, myself have decided to take the plunge and got my boss to get me a MacBook Pro so I could familiarize myself with the OS and more.

I have been very overly impressed with the usability of this Mac Book Pro - (I don't know what have I been thinking all those years - just working with PC) :) Told my wife the other day, the next system we're buying its gonna be a MAC. :)

But back to the point of this post - one issue I have been trying to find but haven't had much luck - I did a search on the forums (please forgive me if it has been posted and I overlooked it) But I have the Airport connected to our secured network - but here's the thing, if I close my Macbook, (I don't turn it off just close it) when I boot it back up it 1) loses connection 2) it doesn't restore back to the original connection that I had it set up at.
I even set up in the Networks under Systems Preferences for the Preferred Network to point to this particular wireless network but to no avail.

Does anyone have any guidance or help that might be of some help! This would really come in handy so I dont have to log in EVERY time I open it up.

Nice forums by the way - you'll see me spamming and lurking around here a bit more! :)

Welcome! You should look at the System Preferences --> Network and double click the Airport tab. There should be a list of "Preferred Networks". Make sure that yours is on the top of the list. My laptop does what you want yours to do, so there must be something in that list. Good luck!

I did that.. I had three wireless on it - I removed one - one is my work and one is my home. So I put my work wireless up on top as the primary over my home wireless but it still doesn't connect. :( But thank you for your response though. I will keep looking!

I actually have another issue - but one issue at a time for now. :D

i dont have no mac's
spammer!!!!!

lol

well first is first, when you close your lid your 'book goes to sleep. just wanted to say that incase you werent familiar with that idea because i know a lot of pc laptops dont go to sleep automatically.

your network issue: 1) refer to my paragraph above 2) go to system preferences, network, select airport, click configure....under the airport tab make sure your network you want to join is the first one listed so that it tries to connect to that one first, remove any networks you do not want to join and just play with those settings for a few minutes.

i think that should solve some of your problems. im glad your enjoying it and welcome to the mac world!!!!

edit: looks like i was a few minutes too late

Thank you - thats about what I did.. But still to no avail but but I wont give up and will keep trying. :)

Thank you for your inputs... Right now I've been looking over the web for all kinds of goodies for this Mac... So yes I have been enjoying this lil toy - only problem is - i have to run Parallel on this and still run XP on the side - so I can use some of the apps that we have that is Windows based only. But other than that - im running my emails and all my other stuff from the Mac side..

But from the experiences I have been having as of late - it looks like I will be leaving the dark side and going to the light. :$
