Currently looking for a webhost, i live in the UK
I dont have a clue how much bandwidth i will need
thinking about spending £30 a year

My website will be compiled in dreamweaver but will be created using flash

i have looked at the following companies
Fasthosts
webhosing UK
1&1 slightly put off by the 99% up time?
123

123 looks most promising, but i dont know if its just the flashy website that catches my eye...
Do you have any recomendations?

homestead looked good but i dont know if its what im looking for as its also a webdesign program

Thanks in advance :)

Im only familiar with 1&1 of those you mention, but 99% uptime is all any host will tell you, 99.9% usually, because there is usually some downtime even if it's unknown to the user, like late at night, once every 5 years.. it's still 99% since you can't say 100%. :) So you're safe there, don't let that put you off :)

If you're just renting space on the server, it'll make no difference to you at all. It only matters if you are going to be useing a dedicated server.

Speed is dictated far more by connections. Neither one would be significantly faster for a simple hosted website.

i use a2b2.com and been very pleased. you should check them out, they are not as big as all of the ones you suggested but the support and service is fantastic and personal.

smaller companies are often better.

I personally like linux servers better due to security reasons, plus many other reasons :)

i second the linux choice. apart from security there are a lot more scripts free and paid for it.
