as far as I know, they don't...

Oh.. I forgot to mention... on that deal from tiger direct, there is a $25 CDN Mail-In-Rebate on that.

Alternatively, you can get a 2 gig stick for $99 from MCE Tech. No rebates and you can keep your stock ram:

http://store.mcetech.com/Merchant2/...PC5300&Category_Code=MEMMBPRO&Product_Count=0

Now - I'm middle-age and not that good at math so bear with me please...

As I understand it there are only 2 RAM slots in the MBP. If this is the case and each slot has a 1GB stick in it, removing one of those sticks and replacing it with a single 2GB stick would give you a total of 3GB.

So - If all this is correct - I don't find this as an alternative way to get to 4GB from 2GB.

Please feel free to set me straight. I've not yet received my MBP... The Christmas tree is going up tonight! :)

Maybe someone can set me straight, because I'm seeing a lot of 2GB RAM on Newegg for a lot less than the deals being mentioned here.

Maybe the specs of the RAM I'm looking at don't match with an MBP. They are all DDR2 SO-DIMM 667 PC@ 5300. Would that work for my MBP? Are there differences in RAM for a new MBP and an older one like mine. (I already know mine won't use 4gig, but I'm probably going to buy a 2gig and get my max of 3)
