Pro turns off with no power source

Please advise..
In the last 20 minutes, my fully charged Macbook Pro has decided that if it doesnt have a power source connected, the screen will black out, shutdown and nothing will save. When I re-connect the power-source and press the power button, it starts asif it hasnt been turned on, and it takes a while aswell.

Please help me.. I love my Mac.

I also invested in Apple Care Protection Plan.. Noice !

is the battery properly installed?

Are you trying to run closed with an external monitor? Even so, it should only go to sleep. Sounds like a battery problem or more serious. I would take it in no matter what just to be safe.

Hmm.. The closest Apple store is really far away, but im willing to drive if there is a chance they can fix it or send it away for repair.

What do I need to take with me?

The laptop, Protection Plan Proof etc?


Edit : When I try to turn it on without the power supply, it makes that nice mechanism noise as if to say 'you woke me' and then it makes a sound as if to say 'merrrrrrrrrrrrrr'.

Sounds like a shutdown noise..

Your right ladies and gents.. It is a bad battery, I took it round a friends house and used his battery to start it, worked like a dream !

Now ive just gotta go there and get a new battery
