I was watching a video on YOUTUBE and there was one guy that was complaining how his MBP didn't open too much compared to other laptops. At what angle do these things open at most? I plan on buying the 17''.

Thanks

I have a Black MacBook, which I believe has the same style hinge for the screen as the MBP. The screen open up approximately about 105 to 110 degrees angle, I am just guessing it. The guy on You Tube is probably comparing it to the main stream Windows Laptops which open up a full 180.

I can tell u this much tho, u won't be missing much, when do u really open the screen a full 180 anyways?!

Thanks for the reply...
It's just that, the guy on youtube was sitting on his couch with his knees up and when he had the laptop on his lap, he couldn't see the screen...
Hmmmm...I guess I won't really be losing out.

I use my MacBook on the Couch a lot. Sometimes I like to finish my paper work while watching TV, and I have never encountered a problem with viewing the screen at all. The screens on the MacBooks are superior take it from me, I am a recent switcher and I LOVE every aspect of my MacBook and the screen is just simply amazingly clear.

Coming from a Thinkpad that opened 180˚, I don't miss the extra degrees. It really does open far enough.

Yeah, I can see how, with your knees up, it might not be enough, but is that how people use notebooks in the real world? Anyhow, I always have mine on a hard surface in front of me to avoid overheating.
