Problems with opening PKG files

I can't open pkg files. My installer just says default. And I read somewhere you could insert the Mac OS X install disc and the choose archive and install - but it isn't there when I insert the disc!!:'( Please help me!!

You can't install any packages?

The .pkg format is built in Mac OS, so you don't have to download/install anything from the get go to unpackage pkg files. Are you sure that the package files are complete (let's say you downloaded one, make sure the download has completely finished before you try to unpack it)?

By the way, stay away from StuffIt Expander. It isn't meant to be used with it.

And you may be right, I don't remember seeing a package to install an unpacker for the Mac :p
