I was used to using AOL 9.0 for windows, now on mac the only version is a crappy simplified version of AOL that I'm having to settle with. But its really annoying how the IM box fonts are tiny and the filing cabinet text is tiny, does anyone know how to make the display of AOL applications bigger? its driving me insane.

I thought AOL Windows software was detested by everyone and was paramount to malware with the amount of crap it installed that clashed with everything else?

It is, when I was doing MS tech support, we referred to it as the legal virus.

If you are on AOL broadband, there is absolutely no need to use the software - there hasn't been for years.

There is some value to having your AOL email address, however there is absolutely no value with using there software anymore. Basically the same thing is available by going to www.aol.com. Just my 2 cents worth. :D

I have AOL for Mac, but in one of my first threads on this forum I complained about how slow it is, so I don't actually use it. I use iChat to chat with people with my AOL screename and I just go to aol.com via Safari to check my mail.

I agree with AOL mail being valuable. It's irreplaceable if you need a lot of Viagra and want to earn $1000 per week working from home. :D

LOL. Actually, as email I don't receive no where nearly as much SPAM with my AOL email address as I did a few years ago. I can't tell you when was last time I received SPAM like that on my AOL account. To add to that most of the SPAM I receive is directed to the SPAM folder. I use my AOL account via the built in Mac Mail client and it does what I need it to do for my email use. I'm not a big AOL buff my any means, just stating the facts and for not being as bad as they once were.

Now that you've had scorn heaped on you for using AOL, I'll answer your question:

Nope. There isn't a way to increase the size of the fonts in the filing cabinets. I don't know about the IMs, because I don't use them at work. Furthermore, the AOL Tech for Mac is atrocious. You might consider a third-party e-mail software like Mozilla's Thunderbird, but there appear to be quite a few glitches between AOL-Thunderbird on the Mac platform - all solely due to AOL, I'm guessing.

The AOL Mac browser is slow slow slow and often doesn't bring up the entire web page. I have to keep the AOL e-mail name for our small office (have had it for 11 years now), but I use the Safari browser (not too impressed - it crashes all the time), or Mozilla browser.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful in getting a solution to your problem for you.

I'm just teasing. AOL did have a very bad reputation for many reasons, but if it's what floats your boat, then you should ignore us. Glad to hear they sorted out the spam though - one of my biz partners used to use them and it used to drive him nuts. :D

Thank you for actually addressing the original question. I have always used AOL for email and IM. On my mac though I just use Mozilla for a browser. I figured out a way to adjust the IM, just will have to deal with the filing cabinet.
