moving things on the menubar

How can you move things around on the menubar (or whatever that thing at the top of the screen with the data, battery life, etc., is called)? I somehow moved my battery-life indicator so that it's right next to the Spotlight button (normally the date is there), and I can't figure out how to move it back. Thanks.
