• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Final Cut Pro and a MacBook

So, I'm using FCP on my MacBook 2.16 with 2GBs of RAM. I had no problems installing it or running it. My biggest problem, though, is that I'm not getting any real-time video playback without having to render first (which is a huge hassle - I'd like to see my cuts in even low quality as soon as I make them). I have all of the RT settings set to their lowest quality settings, and I'm still having problems. Anybody who has used FCP on a MacBook (again, to clarify, NOT the MacBook Pro) know how to fix this?

I know it's been done.

I can't imagine much has been done with RT effects. They mostly rely on a dedicated video card such as what comes with the MBP. Perhaps you can find the answer on the Apple discussion forums.

This is why apple suggests that you dont use a MacBook or Mac Mini with final cut pro. Neither of them have a video card, so you will have this problem. I am not sure of how to fix it, and im not sure its possible. Maybe try calling Apple and ask them what to do.
